The water cycle is often taught as a simple loop of rainfall, runoff, evaporation, but in ecological systems it is far more interactive. Water does not just move through landscapes; it connects them.

For generations, landscapes have been treated as scenery—something to admire rather than engage with. Our study plot challenged that assumption by transforming the landscape into a living educational tool.

For many years, the image of a healthy garden was simple: neatly trimmed lawns, tidy flower beds, and not a weed in sight. While attractive, these landscapes often provide little habitat for the insects and animals that help ecosystems thrive.

Good intentions are easy to find. Communities want greener spaces, organizations seek sustainable solutions, and property owners want lasting value. The challenge is often not deciding what should be done—it is knowing how to make it happen.

Some landscapes tell stories quietly. A forgotten graveyard, hidden beneath overgrown vegetation and years of neglect, is one such place.
